We have carried out a review of our activities following restrictions introduced in November 20. As a charitable organisation supporting disabled people, we can continue to meet for support in person if necessary. We have taken a cautious view and re-introduced online sessions, including Youth Club and multisport sessions, Our Futures catch-ups, and the Carers Project. Our allotment style gardening project will continue to meet in a socially-distanced Covid-secure environment for those who are not accessing education currently in order to provide support and a short break from caring. Our new enterprise, a cafe and community space inside the London Museum of Water & Steam is on hold until Spring 21.
At Our Barn, we are a registered charity (number 1181421) that runs community-based activities providing learning, life skills and social interaction for young people aged between 16 to 35 with learning disabilities or autism.
*Our rather unusual name was chosen by the young people and comes from the log cabin we use in Redlees Play Centre. We have extended the opportunities we offer, but Our Barn Youth Club remains one of our flagship projects. Details of what we offer can be found on our What we do page.
We are delighted to be one of the Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Tony Louki's charities for his 2019/20/21 mayoral years, alongside Hounslow Seniors Trust.
He aims to raise funds for our cycling project, Buddy Bicycles, which brings adapted cycling to the safe and picturesque Osterley Park and offers work experience opportunities to young people with learning disabilities or autism. The tricycles seat two people side-by-side, are specially imported and cost around £5,000 each!
Please go to the Mayor's Just Giving page if you would like to make a contribution.
We are running a number of fund-raising events this year which aim to raise awareness of learning disabilities and autism across the borough of Hounslow and beyond.
