At Our Barn, we are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation registered with the Charity Commission (number 1181421) that runs community-based activities providing learning, life skills and social interaction for young people aged between 16 to 35 with learning disabilities or autism. We also support unpaid carers, regardless of the age of the person cared for. We started as a youth club and still call our service users members.
Participants are kept up-to-date with our Covid-19 precautions and restrictions, and we review these regularly as conditions change. The safety of our Members is our primary concern and our Risk/Benefit reviews take into account the importance of running the activities in a safe manner whilst recognising the importance of face-to-face interaction to many.
Our rather unusual name was chosen by the young people and comes from the log cabin we use in Redlees Play Centre. We have extended the opportunities we offer, but Our Barn Youth Club remains one of our flagship projects. Details of what we offer can be found on our What we do page.
Pump & Grind Coffee Shop is our social enterprise supporting young people to gain work and life skills. We're currently open Thursdays to Sundays for delicious coffee and cake at very reasonable prices

Buddy Bicycles is our mini social enterprise that is open from spring to late autumn. We hire out adapted two-seater and single-seater tricycles, and provide work experience for people with learning disabilities or autism. Contact community@ourbarn.org.uk to arrange hire.
Our garden outreach team can assist your gardening project with an enthusiastic group of gardeners for a day or two. We seek to help with disability projects or publicly accessible spaces. As well as improving the space we aim to showcase our skills and raise expectations of what disabled people can achieve. Contact cathy.child@ourbern.org.uk if you have a project
We are currently volunteering on Mondays at the London Museum of Water & Steam in Brentford

Carers tell us they aim to stay in the caring role for as long as possible. As an organisation founded by three parent carers we share our lived experience of the caring role, provide practical support with disability-related forms and welfare benefits, and reduce the feelings of isolation that carers can experience. If we haven't done it ourseleves we know somebody who has. We run a drop-in coffee morning session on Thursday mornings. Contact carers@ourbarn.org.uk for more information.
